2011 The Knot Best of Weddings

I just found out the other day that Powerhouse Studios is a 2011 The Knot Best of Weddings Winner. My jaw almost hit the floor when I found out. Seriously. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of my fabulous, amazing, oh-so-very-wonderful brides who made this possible! Honestly, I feel so humbled. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your creativity, beauty, laid back and up-for-anything approach inspires me, and your support and encouragement mean the world to me. Truly.

More info coming in January, but I wanted to share!

Xavier + Priscilla [San Antonio Wedding]

Posted on December 9, 2010

Xavier and Priscilla met in middle school. With sweaty palms (though he didn’t say as much, I’m sure they were!), he asked her to be his girlfriend and she said yes… However, as most junior high couples do, the two of them shortly went their separate ways and moved on with their lives. Fifteen years later, however, they found eachother online and reconnected. This time something was different, and they both knew that this was the real deal. Even I, from the first time I met them, could tell it was the real deal — the way she laughs at the things he says, the adoration in his eyes when he looks at her… it’s awesome to behold.

Xavier & Priscilla, I’m so happy for the two of you! Congratulations, and may you each be so blessed by living life together.

Here are a few previews from the wedding. Due to my computer issues this week, everything’s a little different than usual, but I wanted to share some of my favorites.

I had the priviledge of being a part of Priscilla and Xavier’s wedding on Saturday, and I’m so excited that I finally get to show you some of her bridal portraits! (I always hate having to wait until after the wedding to post them. Ha ha!) We shot her bridal portraits at the McNay, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful afternoon. It was amazing! Priscilla, you are beautiful! Be looking for wedding photos soon.

End of Year Savings!

Posted on November 17, 2010

I love this time of year. The crisp cool air of fall, the smell of cookies baking, hot cocoa, shopping, and time with family. The holidays are such a wonderful time! I also realize that the holidays, while amazingly fun and significant, can cost a lot of extra money. So… I want to do my part in helping you save. Take advantage of any of these great deals!

Rachel + Brett [New Braunfels Wedding]

Posted on November 10, 2010

Rachel and Brett’s story is pretty cool. They got to know each other as they were serving on the same team as missionaries in Spain with Rachel’s sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Josh. They were friends, but nothing more. Then there came a day, when Rachel began to look at him differently. She just had a “feeling” about him. But nothing developed, and life went on, until one day Brett was doing a Bible study with Josh. They were reading the book of Ruth — about a woman of amazing faith and character — and it clicked. Rachel.

So… he invited her to coffee and asked if he could court her, and it wasn’t long before they were engaged. They just knew. Recently, they came back to the states, and in October, they were married. The wedding was held at the home of a friend, and everyone pitched in to make it an amazing, fun, and intimate day. Rachel made her dress by hand (*gasp*), friends made pies and cookies, after the ceremony, there was a picnic on the lawn. There was a three legged race, a doughnut eating contest, and kids were lined up all day to play on the tire swing. It was much like I imagine weddings used to be… and it was SO MUCH FUN.

Rachel and Brett, I am so happy for the two of you! Congratulations and thanks for letting me document your very special day!

Laura + Gabe [San Fernando Cathedral Wedding]

Posted on November 9, 2010

I’ve been looking forward to Laura and Gabe’s wedding for a year. From the very first time we met, I just felt like we “clicked”. Their wedding took place on a gorgeous October evening and everything was perfect. It was such a happy occasion, and I felt so happy to be a part of their marriage, not only as a photographer, but as a friend. Laura and Gabe, I am SO very happy for the two of you! Marriage is such an amazing thing, and I look forward to seeing you grow even closer as time goes by. Laura Getting Ready

Leigh + Kevin [Garden Ridge Wedding]

Posted on October 27, 2010

When I met Leigh this summer to talk about her wedding, she was practically glowing. I couldn’t help but get excited about being part of her wedding when I heard her talk about Kevin and about the love they shared. It all started simply enough, Leigh went over to meet a friend, and who should answer the door, but a tall and handsome guy named Kevin. Life was never the same for Leigh after that day. She and Kevin compliment each other perfectly. Before the ceremony, Leigh had her moments of nervousness, but I could see on her face, the moment that she turned the corner and saw him at the end of the aisle that she was at ease. The nerves faded into oblivion as they stood hand in hand and commited to love eachother for the rest of eternity. Their ceremony at The Vineyards in Garden Ridge was absolutely beautiful, and was filled with lots of love and laughter. Congrats to the happy couple! I loved being a part of your wonderful day!

Laura [San Antonio Bridal Portraits]

Posted on October 22, 2010

I just love Laura. She’s fun and super sweet and I could talk to her for ages. I have been looking forward to her bridal portraits for quite some time. She had vision. She was inspired by the film Marie Antoinette – the vivid colors, the expansive gardens, the exquisite dress, the antique florals. We put our heads together and knew that the Botanical Gardens would be perfect. We had a perfect day and (as always) had a great time together. Laura, you’re beautiful!

Special thanks to Laura’s aunt for joining us and keeping an eye on the details, to Madame Makeup for a great job on Laura’s hair and makeup, and to Central Market florals for the bouquet they put together for her bridal portrait!

Cierra + Jeremie [Gruene Engagement Portraits]

Posted on September 30, 2010

When I met Cierra and Jeremie the other day for their engagement portraits, I immediately knew that I liked them. We met in Gruene on what turned out to be one of the first “cool” fall days. It was a beautiful day in a beautiful town, and only moments into our session, I could tell that these two shared a special — and yes, beautiful — love. They’ve been together since high school, but they are still very much in love. You can tell by the way people look at and interact with each other — genuine love cannot be faked.

Cierra and Jeremie, I loved meeting you and getting to spend time getting to know you! I can’t wait to be part of your wedding!

Natalie + Will [Boerne Wedding]

Posted on September 24, 2010

I absolutely loved being a part of Natalie and Will’s wedding. The two of them are a wonderfully sweet, fun, and laid back pair… not to mention beautiful! On their wedding day, the sky was blue, the breeze was blowing, and everyone was smiling. You could feel the warmth and the excitement in the air. That feeling continued into the night, where their reception at Ye Kendall Inn in Boerne was filled with personal touches, special moments, and much laughter. It doesn’t get better than that.

I have so many images that I hope to share with you later from their big day, but for now, I leave you with these. (My computer had sort of a “crash” the other day and is still being repaired.) Hope you all have a great weekend!
