Okay, folks. I have to admit being FOREVER behind on blogging. I’ve had tons of AMAZING weddings lately and have so much to show you! I will do my best to get around to it. I’m up late working on a wedding before going out of town and I just wanted to share this cute idea with you. One of my fabulous brides, Cheri, came up with this cake topper idea and I thought it turned out awesome! It definitely got a lot of attention at their La Mansion del Rio wedding.

Wedding Books

One thing I love about the wedding books that we offer is that, not only do they include all of the photos from your wedding day, but they can be customized pretty easily. Katy came over one day to view her wedding images, and while she was here, we were able to look through swatches and plan her wedding book. I just got it in and I love the way it came out! She opted for a 9.5×9.5 square book with a pearlescent natural white cover. Don’t you love it?

I just found out the other day that Powerhouse Studios is a 2011 The Knot Best of Weddings Winner. My jaw almost hit the floor when I found out. Seriously. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of my fabulous, amazing, oh-so-very-wonderful brides who made this possible! Honestly, I feel so humbled. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your creativity, beauty, laid back and up-for-anything approach inspires me, and your support and encouragement mean the world to me. Truly.

Laura + Gabe [San Fernando Cathedral Wedding]

I’ve been looking forward to Laura and Gabe’s wedding for a year. From the very first time we met, I just felt like we “clicked”. Their wedding took place on a gorgeous October evening and everything was perfect. It was such a happy occasion, and I felt so happy to be a part of their marriage, not only as a photographer, but as a friend. Laura and Gabe, I am SO very happy for the two of you! Marriage is such an amazing thing, and I look forward to seeing you grow even closer as time goes by.

Carrie + Steve [Wedding]

I have to admit being a little nervous prior to Steve and Carrie’s wedding. I’ve been shooting weddings for five years now, and I still get nervous before a wedding. I don’t even know why. Isn’t that weird? I guess it’s that realization of the fact that this is one of the greatest, most amazing days in a couple’s life, and they’ve trusted me to document it. That’s a lot of pressure! In a way I think that’s good though. I never want to get in the “routine” of weddings. I don’t want them to ever lose their specialness. So I guess in a way, I hope I’m always a little nervous. But I digress…

For some reason I was really having trouble shaking the nerves that day. But I’ve gotta tell ya… as soon as I arrived, I felt right at home. Carrie and her family were so laid back, sweet, and gracious, that I was instantly at ease. I love that. I immediately loved Carrie and her beautiful smile and the way that she carried herself. When we arrived at Pearl Stable and I met Steve, I could tell that these two were an amazing couple. They opted to see each other before the ceremony to do a “First Look” session, and it was so sweet. As Steve stood with his back to the door waiting for Carrie to enter, we talked, and I could see in his nervous smile just how much he adored her. Seeing both of their faces when they saw each other for the first time was magical. I loved being a part of their wedding and getting to see a glimpse of the deep love they have for each other. It’s so amazing to be a part of their family’s history and to know that no matter how much they loved each other on that day, as time goes on their love will grow deeper and wider and more all-encompassing than they could ever dream. That’s a great thing to be a part of. I love my job!

Thanks to Carrie and Steve for trusting me to document your wedding day. It was such a priviledge to work with you! Special thanks also to Sue of Wedding Planners, Inc. for making the whole event amazing and to Steve at Pizzini Designs for making the whole event breathtakingly beautiful!

I always like finding and sharing new resources for brides, and just re-discovered OneWed.com. They just recently re-vamped their whole site and it is now a really helpful resource. My favorite feature is that you can read reviews by other wedding couples. As a consumer I’m a huge fan of sites that have actual customer reviews… just ask my husband. It annoys him greatly. Ha ha! Anyway, if you’re in the midst of planning your wedding, check it out. AND if you’re a former bride, feel free to stop by and leave reviews for your favorite vendors.

When I sat down to check my e-mail this afternoon, the last thing I expected was to find that I had received an award. Of any kind. In fact, when I saw the header “You’ve Been Selected…” I almost deleted it. Thankfully, I didn’t, and I found out that I’ve received the 2010 Brides’ Choice Award from WeddingWire.com! Last week I walked out to my mailbox to find the newest edition of San Antonio Weddings Magazine. I was giddy with excitement (because there are truly few things in the world I enjoy more than sitting down with a good magazine). I ran inside and plopped myself down on the couch and began flipping through it, reading articles here and there, when all of the sudden — I saw my name!!! Whaaaat?!

Thank you so much to the awesome folks at San Antonio Weddings for including me in such an amazing publication! I’m honored!
