Ethan [San Antonio Newborn Portraits]

Posted on October 8, 2011

I had the awesome privilege of meeting baby Ethan just a few days after he was born. He’s so precious! I went over to Josh and Kelly’s house to hang out for a while and take some photos. This baby is angelic. Quiet and sweet and oh-so-snuggly!

Congrats to our wonderful friends!

Josh + Kelly [Maternity Portraits]

Posted on October 7, 2011

Josh and Kelly have been friends of ours for years now. Josh ended up in San Antonio the same way I did — came here as an intern at our church, and then never left! We were so happy when he married Kelly and brought her down here too! We’re so excited for them as they begin this new phase in life. They’re going to be great parents!

By now, baby Ethan has already arrived, and I’ll have pictures soon. Just thought I’d post a couple photos from their maternity session as well.

Have a great weekend!

Laura + Gus [Engagement Portraits]

Posted on September 23, 2011

I really love engagement sessions. It’s such a cool opportunity for me to get to know couples before the happy chaos of the big day (and for them to get to know me). It’s so great just being able to talk and laugh together, and even more, it offers me a little glimpse into each couple’s story, personality, and style. Last week, I got together with Laura and Gus for their engagement portraits, and they rocked it out. You can tell they share a love that is sweet and special (I can tell by the way he looks at her when she’s not looking, and by the way she smiles when he talks). Oh, and they’re really fun and laid back, too!

Laura and Gus, thanks for a great session, and I’m looking forward to your wedding in March!

Erika + Wade [San Antonio Engagement Portraits]

Posted on September 10, 2011

Erika and Wade are an amazing couple. In the two hours we spent together this morning, I could tell that they are best friends, that they’re super fun, and that Wade just adores her. They met in college almost seven years ago through a friend, and they’ve been crazy in love ever since. And it shows.

You guys, I had a great time hanging out and taking portraits this morning, and I’m so excited for your wedding! Here are a few previews from this morning’s session…

Derek + Amber [Helotes Engagement Portraits]

Posted on September 3, 2011

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend! I know I am. I started off the morning in Helotes with our good friends Derek and Amber (who will be getting married next month!!) so we could shoot their engagement portraits. We had a great time (they’re such a fun couple), and as we were finishing up, Helotes Marketplace was getting going so Aaron and the kids met us there to walk around, check out the vendors and the BBQ competition, and then when we were sufficiently drenched with sweat (why do we live in Texas again?!), we all parted ways and I spent the rest of the day with the fam driving through the Hill Country, listening to good music, and enjoying life. I am so thankful for days like today.

And of course, I can’t leave you without a few pics from Derek and Amber’s session!

Close of Summer

Posted on August 23, 2011

Yesterday, was the first day of school. Not only did we drop off our second grader, but our kindergartner, too. My baby. The kids were thrilled about the start of the new year and they did so great! After we dropped the kids off, Aaron and I walked back home alone and tried not to talk about how this was the end of an era or how quiet the house was going to be when we got home. Luckily, we had plans to meet our good friends for a “Boo-Hoo Breakfast” after we all dropped our kids off. It was great fun and a great distraction. After that, as Aaron and I drove around, then we had the sentimental talks about how not so very long ago, Abby and Carson were just babies, and so on and so forth. We smiled and laughed (and were tempted to cry), and spent a great day together shopping and going to a quiet lunch. It was really nice. But when 2:30 rolled around, we were just dying to pick the kids up and hear all about their day. It was so fun seeing their smiling faces when they walked outside! We talked and talked the whole walk home, then filled out the giant pile of paperwork, and had reading time, and started to get back into the swing of things for the school year.

Today was my first day at home without any kids or Aaron to keep me company. It’s strangely quiet, but at the same time, I’m excited about all the extra time I’ll have to pour into my business. I’ve got so many ideas that have been flying through my head (some since my kids were just babies) and I can’t wait to begin putting legs on some of these dreams.

Looking forward to this new era!

Kim + Edgar [Hill Country Wedding]

Posted on July 27, 2011

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Kim for a number of years now. It makes me feel old to say this, but she was one of the teens in our youth group when Aaron was youth pastor. She’s always been one of those girls who loves everyone, takes her faith seriously, and is serious about making a difference with her life. Oh, and she’s gorgeous and sweet and totally awesome. When she e-mailed me to say she was getting married, I knew this had to be one amazing guy… and he is. It’s so awesome to watch them together. They adore each other, have tons of fun together, and watching them, you know that this is a couple that’s the real deal. Their wedding was an intimate Hill Country event in Boerne that turned out just perfect. Kim and Edgar, I was so honored to take part in such an amazing day. Thank you, and congratulations!

Heidi + Bob [Family Portrait Photography]

Posted on July 18, 2011

You might recognize these guys from my last blog post! I met Heidi and Bob at Dana and Luke’s wedding, where they told me they’d never had a family portrait done! So we decided to make it happen before these two coaches head back to school for the fall. We had a great time walking the streets of Boerne and playing with their son. Turns out the July heat isn’t too bad as long as you get out before 10!

I’m excited to be shooting more portraits coming this fall. It’s just so fun to be able to photograph families and children as they grow and change! Here are a few favs from last week…

Dana and Luke’s summer wedding was beautiful, sweet, and full of colorful details. The Grande Hall at Hofmann Ranch was the perfect backdrop for the occasion. I’ve absolutely loved getting to know Dana, Luke, and their families. Such a great legacy of love and kindness! Here are a few of my favorite pics from the day…

David + Kim [Port Aransas Vow Renewal]

Posted on July 5, 2011

David and Kim first met at an HOA meeting. As Kim and I sit and talk over coffee, she laughs as she recalls that she just thought he was some weird hippie guy.” She couldn’t have suspected that this man was her perfect match and that she’d end up marrying him someday. Now twenty years had passed since their Port Aransas wedding, and they wanted to celebrate. So they invited all their close family and friends down for a laid back weekend at the beach, and celebrate they did.

When I first met David and Kim at their daughter’s wedding, I could tell that their love was deep and special and fun. They’re the kind of couple that make each other better, and others are better for having been around them. They don’t take themselves too seriously. They’re happy. And in love after all these years. It’s inspiring to see!

David and Kim, it was such an honor to be able to witness and celebrate your marriage and your love. Thank you!
