Marissa + Russell [Los Patios Wedding]

When I arrived at Los Patios one afternoon in November, I was not met by the usual chaos and hubbub that usually surrounds a wedding. As I walked upstairs in search of the wedding party, I was met by Russell — happy, calm, and so ready. When I walked into the bridal suite, I felt the same peace. Marissa and Russell just have this level of deep love for each other that to get married was the most natural thing in the world. No jitters, no nerves, just peace. As Marissa’s dad walked her down the aisle, I just loved watching Russell’s face… both of their faces! Now that’s love.

These two share a love that I can tell is deep and true — the kind of love you could only have for your very best friend and soulmate. It was such an amazing celebration. A beautiful day, their son, two happy and loving families, amazing wedding details… everything was perfect.

I find that Christmas has sort of snuck up on me this year. We never got around to putting the lights up outside and I didn’t bake the piles of cookies and pies that I had planned. But in a way, it was nice keeping things simpler. I’ve really enjoyed this Christmas season, and I hope you have too. May today be a day filled with joy, peace, thankfulness, and wonderful memories for you and your family. I’m so thankful for each of you who are a part of my life, and who make it wonderful.

I was so excited to get a text last week from my good friend (and former bride), Laura, saying that their sweet new bundle of joy had arrived! Today, I had the privilege of meeting Laura and Gabe’s precious little girl. She’s sooooo sweet. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from this morning’s session.

Derek and Amber’s ceremony was truly probably one of the sweetest weddings I’ve ever been to. The whole day was just so full of joy and happiness and thankfulness. I have to admit getting a little teary as they said their vows to each other. It was a beautiful day in every way. Derek and Amber, we wish you all the best as you begin your new life together!

2011 Holiday Portrait Sessions

Well, I’m a little late in getting this going, but it is FINALLY time to announce this year’s holiday portrait specials! This year, we are not only offering our ever-popular Mini-Sessions, but I’ve got another great deal for you as well for those of you who may be wanting something more than a Mini-Session.

First, our Mini-Sessions will be taking place on Saturday, November 19th in Helotes. $75 gets you a 15-20 minute session (please be on time!) as well as one of our adorable brag books with all of your images in it. In the event of rain or extreme cold (the likelihood of either of those seem highly unlikely given the weather this year), I will contact you and the sessions will be rescheduled for December 3rd.

We are also offering the option for a 30-45 minute full session for $75 (down from $150)! This allows you to choose a location that best suits you and gives us a little more time to create amazing and creative images for you and your family. These sessions are available Tuesday-Friday from now until December 9th mornings only, any time between 8:00 and 11:00 (when there’s great light).

Adam + Mollie [Engagement Portraits]

I love Saturday mornings. Saturdays just feel different than any other day of the week. They feel happy, relaxed, bright, comfortable, and free. Adam and Mollie’s engagement session just felt like Saturday. Does that even make sense? We spent the morning, walking and talking, the two of them hand in hand. There was no hurrying, no major agenda… just enjoying life (and documenting it with my camera, of course). I’ve said it before (and I’ll say it many times again), I love my job. It’s worth getting up on Saturdays for days like that. Capturing moments, seeing such love… it can’t be beat.

Ethan [San Antonio Newborn Portraits]

I had the awesome privilege of meeting baby Ethan just a few days after he was born. He’s so precious! I went over to Josh and Kelly’s house to hang out for a while and take some photos. This baby is angelic. Quiet and sweet and oh-so-snuggly!

Josh and Kelly have been friends of ours for years now. Josh ended up in San Antonio the same way I did — came here as an intern at our church, and then never left! We were so happy when he married Kelly and brought her down here too! We’re so excited for them as they begin this new phase in life. They’re going to be great parents!

By now, baby Ethan has already arrived, and I’ll have pictures soon. Just thought I’d post a couple photos from their maternity session as well.

Laura + Gus [Engagement Portraits]

I really love engagement sessions. It’s such a cool opportunity for me to get to know couples before the happy chaos of the big day (and for them to get to know me). It’s so great just being able to talk and laugh together, and even more, it offers me a little glimpse into each couple’s story, personality, and style. Last week, I got together with Laura and Gus for their engagement portraits, and they rocked it out. You can tell they share a love that is sweet and special (I can tell by the way he looks at her when she’s not looking, and by the way she smiles when he talks). Oh, and they’re really fun and laid back, too!

Laura and Gus, thanks for a great session, and I’m looking forward to your wedding in March!
