Felicia + Adrian [San Antonio Maternity Portraits]

Felicia and Adrian are one of those couples that, when I first met them, I felt connected to them right away. They’re super sweet and laid back, and very much in love. I loved being a part of their wedding, and I’m thrilled to be able to continue to capture their story as they move on to the next phase in their life. Baby Adrian Jr. will be arriving in just a few weeks (Felicia doesn’t look 8 months pregnant, does she?!), so we got together the other day at Brackenridge Park to document this fabulously exciting time in their lives! Can’t wait to meet the newest member of this awesome family!

Felicia and Adrian brought along a couple of the sonogram photos to incorporate into the session. Love it!

I was so excited when I got the call from Heather the other today to let me know that their sweet new baby had finally arrived! The other day, I had the opportunity to meet their precious new baby boy, Benjamin, and to photograph him and his wonderful family in the comfort of their own home. I got the chance to pick him up and hold him a while and he was just so tiny and sweet. The whole time I was there, he didn’t cry a peep! Here are a few of my favorite images from the night.

Holiday Cards 2010

Just wanted to give you guys a sneak peek of some of this years’ Holiday cards! I’m so excited about them! They will be available in the Powerhouse Studios Store next week. What I love about these designs is they are flexible enough to become Save the Dates or announcements or cards of any kind.

I will be announcing dates for Mini-Sessions soon, too, in preparation for Christmas. Book your holiday sessions now! The cutoff date for holiday portraits will be November 15th, and there are a limited number of dates available between now and then. If you’ve already had your session this year, and would like to order cards with images from that session, let me know and I will re-post your images for 7 days so that you can order your holiday cards and gifts.

Riggs [Birthday Party]

I had the chance this past weekend to photograph Riggs’ backyard birthday party. I can’t believe he’s getting to be such a big boy! There was TONS of fun to be had with the giant bounce house in the back yard and lots of cousins and friends to play with. Their family is so fun and sweet, it was an honor to be able to spend part of the day with them to celebrate such a sweet boy. Here are a few of my favorite shots…

I was also able to sneak in a few shots of sweet baby Sawyer in her little pink tutu! Isn’t she beautiful?! I just love how smiley and happy she was. She’s such a good baby!

Inspiration: Wall Displays

One of the aspects I really love about photography is that, not only can you caputure moments in time for future generations to see, but you can also use it to create personal art pieces in your home. Paintings and stock photography have their place, but decorating your house with personal images really gives that feeling of “home” that we all strive for.

Keri just sent me the following photo of the wall collage she put together using photos from their recent portrait session at the Kiddie Park. I love the clean lines, the simple design, and the fact that it’s a real focal point in the room! This just goes to show that you don’t always have to order a huge 30×40 canvas in order to make a statement. (Although that’ll do the trick, too!) This is an easy and affordable way to display your photos and tell a story.

Baby Ella [Newborn Portraits]

I got the chance to photograph baby Ella when she was two weeks old. I had forgotten just how tiny and sweet newborns are! I’m getting ready to turn in for the night, but wanted to take a minute to share just a few of my favorite shots. Congratulations to Ashley and Harlan on their new addition. You are great friends and I couldn’t be more excited for you!

Ryan + Julie [Family Portraits]

Ryan and his two brothers are the closest thing I have to brothers. Growing up, I spent tons of time with my cousins and I have so many great memories with them. Ryan was older than me and I always thought he was so cool. I didn’t know many older girls, but I knew Julie. Her mom was my kindergarten teacher. So when my cousins moved to the town where we lived, I secretly hoped he and Julie would end up together, because she was really cool too. Well, lo and behold, these two started dating as Freshmen in high school and have been together ever since, and they have a beautiful family! It was so fun being able to photograph their family and spend time laughing and having a good time. Ryan and Julie, I still think you’re super cool. So glad we’re family!

I’ve known Heather and Chris for a long time now, and I was so excited several months ago when I ran into her at Barnes and Noble and found out they were expecting baby #2! We got together a few weeks ago to document this special time in their lives. I can’t believe how big sweet baby Catie is now! I can tell she’ll be a great big sister! A Tribute to the Grooms

Guys, I’ve got to give it to you, I can see it in a lot of your faces when we meet. You’re here for the pictures just because she wants them. And you’re all about her happiness, even though you suppose that posing for photos will be at the expense of yours. Yeah, I know that’s how you really feel when you show up. Ha ha! But after a few minutes, I notice you start to relax and… dare I say… even enjoy it.

Yes, I count myself very lucky to have such great grooms. For one of the guys to come and tell me they had a good time with their pictures is the ultimate compliment. I wish I could say it’s because I’m hysterically funny or something like that (I’m SO not), but I do try and do my absolute best to make everyone feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Always.

So often in all the wedding hoopla, the guys can get a little forgotten (sorry boys, she looks gorgeous and she deserves all the attention she’s getting), so I wanted to do a little tribute to the boys and share some of my favorite “guy” pictures from weddings that I’ve done.
