Felicia and Adrian [Mini-Session]

Posted on December 9, 2011

I was so happy to work (and hang out with) Felicia and Adrian again! And I just can’t believe their little guy is getting so big so quick. Tell me… is he not the CUTEST thing you have EVER seen? Truly adorable. So much fun. Here are a couple of my favorites…

Close of Summer

Posted on August 23, 2011

Yesterday, was the first day of school. Not only did we drop off our second grader, but our kindergartner, too. My baby. The kids were thrilled about the start of the new year and they did so great! After we dropped the kids off, Aaron and I walked back home alone and tried not to talk about how this was the end of an era or how quiet the house was going to be when we got home. Luckily, we had plans to meet our good friends for a “Boo-Hoo Breakfast” after we all dropped our kids off. It was great fun and a great distraction. After that, as Aaron and I drove around, then we had the sentimental talks about how not so very long ago, Abby and Carson were just babies, and so on and so forth. We smiled and laughed (and were tempted to cry), and spent a great day together shopping and going to a quiet lunch. It was really nice. But when 2:30 rolled around, we were just dying to pick the kids up and hear all about their day. It was so fun seeing their smiling faces when they walked outside! We talked and talked the whole walk home, then filled out the giant pile of paperwork, and had reading time, and started to get back into the swing of things for the school year.

Today was my first day at home without any kids or Aaron to keep me company. It’s strangely quiet, but at the same time, I’m excited about all the extra time I’ll have to pour into my business. I’ve got so many ideas that have been flying through my head (some since my kids were just babies) and I can’t wait to begin putting legs on some of these dreams.

Looking forward to this new era!

Notes

Posted on April 19, 2011

When I was a kid/teen, I was all about writing notes in school with my BFF’s. Whether we were talking about what we were going to do on the weekend or about our latest crushes, it was a thrill to get a note, and my pockets seemed to be ever full of the things.

Tonight as we were tucking the kids in and tidying things up, I picked up Abby’s shorts to take them to the laundry room. As I tucked them underneath my arm, I felt something in her pocket. Lo and behold, it was a stack of folded up little notes. I have to admit, I felt a little sneaky as I pulled them out and began to unfold them (Aaron peeking over my shoulder). What first grade “secrets” would I discover? Were these the first of many notes that I’m sure will be passed between Abby and her friends?

As I opened them, one by one, I couldn’t help but feel a little emotional…
Notes from my daughter

One after the other, I read, “I love Mom and Dad.”

(This is the part where I get a little weepy.)

Truly… I feel so blessed. I have the best kids. Tonight I was just reminded of the importance of taking hold of every moment and enjoying every season. Thank you, God, for my precious family and all that you have done for us.

Steve and Familly [San Antonio Family Portraits]

Posted on January 5, 2011

Just before Christmas, I got a call from Steve, who was going to be in town for the holidays and wanted to organize some family portraits for he and his parents, siblings, niece, and nephews. I think it’s such a cool thing for families to take family portraits, even after the “kids” are grown and moved out. Families continue to grow and change, and it’s such a great thing to have and to look back on!

I was so delighted to meet such a fun and loving family, and we had such a great time!

Jackson and Reagan [Children's Portraits]

Posted on December 16, 2010

I’ve got to say, I’ve got the cutest nieces and nephews in the world. (Really, I do.) This is Jackson and Reagan. I took them out for a few Christmas portraits and we had a super time. They did so good that they even got to stop at the store and pick a piece of candy on the way home. (Reagan really wanted a pink lollipop!) I am so blessed by these kiddos.

Lucinda + Mauro [San Antonio Family Portraits]

Posted on October 6, 2010

Last time I saw Lucinda and Mauro, they were an adorable little family of three. I was so excited, though, when she contacted me a couple weeks ago to let me know they’ve added a fourth member to the family and would be needing to update their family portraits! Yesterday they invited me to their home to document their life as a family at this special time, and it was so nice. To finish it all off, we went down to the park to play and enjoy the beautiful day (and, of course, take a few more pictures). I love Fall!

When All Else Fails…

Posted on September 8, 2010

My adorable niece, Reagan, is turning two this month. (Which I can’t even believe, but that’s for another time.) We decided the other day to go out and do a quick portrait or two for her invitations. No biggie, right? Well, on this particular day, it turns she wasn’t feeling too well and wasn’t really into the whole “picture” thing. She was all about her blankie. And being far from “Aunt B” with her camera. So we had to alter our expectations a bit. Natalie actually came up with some great invitation ideas, and we were still able to get some pretty images (this one is one of my favorites)…

but finally we threw in the towel and said, “Let’s go get get ice cream!” Because that always makes a girl feel better. (Plus it was crazy hot that day and we were all dying!) With a little ice cream in her system and a Sonic drink in hand, she finally let me get a few shots. Here are the many faces of Reagan…

Baby Benjamin [Newborn Portraits]

Posted on August 30, 2010

I was so excited when I got the call from Heather the other today to let me know that their sweet new baby had finally arrived! The other day, I had the opportunity to meet their precious new baby boy, Benjamin, and to photograph him and his wonderful family in the comfort of their own home. I got the chance to pick him up and hold him a while and he was just so tiny and sweet. The whole time I was there, he didn’t cry a peep! Here are a few of my favorite images from the night.

The cutoff date for holiday portraits will be November 15th, and there are a limited number of dates available between now and then.
