Cierra + Jeremie [Gruene Engagement Portraits]
Posted on September 30, 2010
When I met Cierra and Jeremie the other day for their engagement portraits, I immediately knew that I liked them. We met in Gruene on what turned out to be one of the first “cool” fall days. It was a beautiful day in a beautiful town, and only moments into our session, I could tell that these two shared a special — and yes, beautiful — love. They’ve been together since high school, but they are still very much in love. You can tell by the way people look at and interact with each other — genuine love cannot be faked.
Cierra and Jeremie, I loved meeting you and getting to spend time getting to know you! I can’t wait to be part of your wedding!

Photo Gift and Decor Ideas [Inspiration]
Posted on September 27, 2010
I love bookstores lately — they’re jammed pack with information, ideas, and inspiration for just about everything! I was browsing the shelves at the bookstore the other day looking for a book for my mom, when one book in particular caught my eye… “Photocraft: Cool Things to do With the Pictures you Love“. I sat for probably 10 minutes just flipping through it. It’s full of great ideas for gifts or for home decor.
Another resource I came across recently and spent even more time browsing was Photojojo.com. Their store is full of fun little gadgets for photographers, which I loved, but I also came across this book that they’ve published that is chock full of DIY photo projects! There are some really fun and funky projects in there, and I plan to order it soon!
Just thought I’d share! Soon, I’ll try and tackle one of these projects and share it with you. If you’ve come across any other cool or creative resources or project ideas, or you have your own fun idea, please share!

Natalie + Will [Boerne Wedding]
Posted on September 24, 2010
I absolutely loved being a part of Natalie and Will’s wedding. The two of them are a wonderfully sweet, fun, and laid back pair… not to mention beautiful! On their wedding day, the sky was blue, the breeze was blowing, and everyone was smiling. You could feel the warmth and the excitement in the air. That feeling continued into the night, where their reception at Ye Kendall Inn in Boerne was filled with personal touches, special moments, and much laughter. It doesn’t get better than that.
I have so many images that I hope to share with you later from their big day, but for now, I leave you with these. (My computer had sort of a “crash” the other day and is still being repaired.) Hope you all have a great weekend!

Lessons in Distraction
Posted on September 9, 2010
I sat down this morning with the best of intentions to get in a couple hours of solid work done before lunch. (Usually, I work 12-5, but I was feeling particularly industrious this morning.) Here’s a little insight into how that went…
- I sat down to work. Edit a few pictures and then…
- I think of something I need to tweet. Open Twitter…
- Get distracted reading other people’s tweets.
- Start clicking links.
- End up at photojojo.com looking at tons of fun photography merchandise
- Think to myself, “I really should be working.” And then I convinced myself, “Wait. I am a photographer and this is photography stuff.”
- See a cute photo prop, which prompts me to check out Etsy. They’re bound to have cute photography props! “Still working…”
- Back to Photojojo to decide if I want to buy that iPhone macro lens. “I’m sure that’d be a justifiable business expense.”
- Back to Twitter to try to remember what I was going to tweet in the first place.
- Can’t think of it, so I get caught up on all recent tweets. There’s another tweet from the guy who tweeted about Photojojo.com and he comments on some Photo App for the iPhone.
- Download app. Clearly I need it. You take a picture and it processes it like a Polaroid. You even shake it to make it develop quicker.
- Call Carson in to test out app. He starts making funny faces and the rest is history.

Still can’t think of what I was going to tweet, but NOW, I really am going to get some work done!

When All Else Fails…
Posted on September 8, 2010
My adorable niece, Reagan, is turning two this month. (Which I can’t even believe, but that’s for another time.) We decided the other day to go out and do a quick portrait or two for her invitations. No biggie, right? Well, on this particular day, it turns she wasn’t feeling too well and wasn’t really into the whole “picture” thing. She was all about her blankie. And being far from “Aunt B” with her camera. So we had to alter our expectations a bit. Natalie actually came up with some great invitation ideas, and we were still able to get some pretty images (this one is one of my favorites)…

but finally we threw in the towel and said, “Let’s go get get ice cream!” Because that always makes a girl feel better. (Plus it was crazy hot that day and we were all dying!) With a little ice cream in her system and a Sonic drink in hand, she finally let me get a few shots. Here are the many faces of Reagan…

My Happy [Work] Place
Posted on September 6, 2010
There’s not a day that goes by that I am not keenly aware of how lucky I am. I have the privilege of doing a job that I adore. To top it all off, I get to do a large part of my it from the comfort of my own home, and that’s just so cool on so many levels. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t struggle with it from time to time. It’s really hard to balance work, time, home, and family a lot of times. Having said that though, I absolutely cannot imagine it any other way.
I love days when I just feel “in the groove”, and I’ve been trying to take note of all the things that contribute to that feeling. What are the usual common denominators?
- Starting the day off right. I have the tendency to run to my computer first thing in the morning. Yes, I am addicted. I find that if I, instead, start my day off with a cup of coffee and 30 minutes of peace and quiet out on the deck, I’m much better at managing the rest of my day.
- Iced Tea. There must be iced tea. Again, yes, I am addicted.
- Music. Great music in the background gets me going. Lately it’s my custom Norah Jones, John Mayer, Madeline Peyroux station on Pandora that I just can’t get enough of.
- Family. While there’s sometimes a lot of noise around here, I love knowing that my family is close. This is my last year with my “baby” at home, and I know when he starts Kindergarten next year, my workdays will begin to look drastically different. I’m learning to appreciate those moments where he (or my daughter or husband) just comes in and sits on the couch in my office while I work.
I’m not sure that I’ll ever attain balance or the “perfect” schedule, but I love times spent in this “happy place”.

Felicia + Adrian [San Antonio Maternity Portraits]
Posted on September 3, 2010
Felicia and Adrian are one of those couples that, when I first met them, I felt connected to them right away. They’re super sweet and laid back, and very much in love. I loved being a part of their wedding, and I’m thrilled to be able to continue to capture their story as they move on to the next phase in their life. Baby Adrian Jr. will be arriving in just a few weeks (Felicia doesn’t look 8 months pregnant, does she?!), so we got together the other day at Brackenridge Park to document this fabulously exciting time in their lives! Can’t wait to meet the newest member of this awesome family!

Felicia and Adrian brought along a couple of the sonogram photos to incorporate into the session. Love it!

I love couples that are willing to have fun and be candid during a session!
