Erica and I met only moments before her portrait session began, but you never would have known it. It was so comfortable hanging out with her. She’s so fun and outgoing and sweet, and we had such a great time while we were taking pictures! Thanks, Erica, for being totally awesome and good luck with the rest of Senior Year! I’m so excited for you!

The weather this weekend could not have been more perfect. Aren’t you loving it? The scorching heat has given way to cool, breezy afternoons and I feel like I can breathe again. I actually get excited about spending time outside and driving with the windows down. I was beginning to think that would never happen again here in Texas. Sunday evening was the perfect evening for relaxing and hanging out by the river with friends, and that’s just what we did! The Carroll family hosted a wonderfully fun and laid back Portrait Party and I had so much FUN! Thanks to all my new, awesome friends who participated. It was such a joy getting to know your families! I should have your galleries up tomorrow!

Mike + Ashley [Cabo San Lucas Destination Wedding]

From the very first time I met Mike and Ashley earlier this year, I have been struck by their laid back personalities, their kindness, the easy laughter of people who are truly happy. It’s been cool to sit back and watch them together, whether they’re just hanging out or watching sports, or playing on their Macs sitting next to each other (remind me to post some of their engagement portraits!). They have a deep affection for each other that has grown over time and distance, and each one of them has the confidence that comes from knowing he/she is truly loved, and that is cool to see.

Laid back people who are crazy in love are my kind of people. So you can imagine that it didn’t take me long to answer when they invited me to come be a part of their wedding in Cabo San Lucas! We had a great time there soaking up the sun and the sand and all the love! Thank you so much to Mike and Ashley for trusting us that much and for letting us document a love as special as yours. And thanks to the staff and wedding coordinator at the Riu Santa Fe for making the wedding and the whole experience amazing!

Out of Office!

I’m packing up all my camera gear and wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be out of the office the rest of this week. Aaron and I are headed to Cabo San Lucas to shoot Mike and Ashley’s destination wedding on Saturday! I’m so excited! Stay tuned for pictures (duh)!

Cassie [Bridal Portraits]

The day we shot Cassie’s bridal portraits, her mom, dad and sister-in-law came along for the shoot. I enjoyed hanging out with the whole crew and I thought it was especially sweet as her dad recalled throughout the day how when Cassie was a little girl, she’d ride around with him in his truck all day as they drove around the ranch where they raised cattle. When she came out of her room in her dress, he was breathtaken… and he got a real kick out of the cowboy boots she wore under her dress. (There’s also a shot of the two of them at the wedding that I love where she’s showing off the fact that she wore her boots instead of her dressy shoes!) I love when I’m able to capture a story in my portraits.  Thanks, Cassie (and family) for letting me tell your story and for being such a fun crew!
