Heather & Chris – Holiday Cards

Posted on November 30, 2008

I just wanted to take a second to show you the Christmas cards we put together for Heather & Chris. We took the design from one of our holiday card sets and made a few adaptations to it and I think it came out really nice! More to come!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted on November 26, 2008

I am just getting ready to walk out the door for an awesome week with family, and wanted to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. I plan to eat lots of turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie and have lots of good times with family. I hope your week is awesome and I’ll be back in the office on Saturday!

God bless!

Holiday Portrait Event – Gordon & Leslie

Posted on November 21, 2008

The first time I met Gordon & Leslie, they were coming over to our house to talk about having me photograph their wedding. Leslie and I had already spoken and she was absolutely certain that they had to have me be their photographer (which is so flattering!). She needed help convincing Gordon though. He (like most men), didn’t really want to be there, and didn’t see the point in spending much money on something like wedding photography. Leslie called me after the meeting was over, however, and told me that he had conceded that this just might be worth it (and maybe even fun!). Their wedding was amazing (probably one of my favorites to date), and I loved getting to know (and document) their family throughout the day.

Their family portraits were equally as much fun. There was TONS of laughter (there are only a handful of pictures where someone isn’t laughing), and it’s easy to see the love this family has for each other.

Holiday Portrait Event – Daniel & Amanda

Posted on November 20, 2008

Daniel & Amanda are a couple of other people with whom I go way back. When I moved here, I got involved in the College group at our church and Daniel was the leader. We became great friends and hung out a lot. I remember when he met Amanda. I remember before they even started dating, he couldn’t stop talking about her. It was so cool watching them fall in love. They’re perfect together. I have lots of stories that Daniel & Amanda are a part of, one of which Amanda reminded me of today. A few years ago, we went to this great BBQ joint together (The Salt Lick) where they had all you can eat BBQ. Well, they make fun of me now because while Daniel, Amanda, and Aaron were talking and laughing, I quietly sat in the corner and put away probably a pound of brisket by myself! Ha! What can I say? Why waste time talking when there’s good barbecue to be eaten! Well, I could probably go on for a while about these two. They have had a huge impact, both individually and as a couple, on both Aaron and I. Heaven only knows how much they’ve done for us. Thanks for being great friends and I’m so glad that I’ve finally gotten to take your pictures!

Holiday Portrait Event – Marianne

Posted on November 20, 2008

I came to San Antonio the summer of 2001 to be an intern for the youth pastor at our church. I had a blast that summer getting to know the students in our ministry, and one of the very first girls I met was Marianne. We hung out a lot that summer and throughout the next few years (because clearly I decided to stick around). I many memories hanging out with Marianne and her younger sister, Liz (and for some reason almost all of those memories seem to include Sonic! Mmm… Strawberry Limeade!) and now Marianne is getting ready to graduate from COLLEGE. I’m starting to feel old.

I was excited when Marianne called and asked to be a part of this year’s Holiday Portrait Event so that she could have some [college] senior portraits for her graduation announcements. Marianne, I’m sad we don’t get to hang out more often, but I had a blast hanging out with you last Saturday! Let’s try and hang out again before another year is up! :)

This is one of my favorite images from Marianne’s session. 400 pixels doesn’t do it justice.

Things I Love Thursday #2

Posted on November 20, 2008

A few more things I love:

- Coats/Jackets – I get an ache in my chest every year at this time, when all the amazing fall coats are on display at Old Navy, J. Crew, etc. I want them all! What I want most right now, though, is a coat like this…

Or this…

- Adobe Photoshop Lightroom – yeah, it changed my life! (Seriously!) It saves me time, it helps me stay organized, and I can do all the editing I need right there (unless I want to do something really creative in Photoshop CS3).

- Road Trips – short road trips… long road trips… it doesn’t matter. Why fly when you can experience the freedom, the openness, the unexpectedness of the road? The people you meet, the food, the culture, the sights! We took a vacation every summer from the time I was about 9-18 and we never flew anywhere (except the Cayman Islands. Can’t really drive there!) I have so many amazing memories with my family on those trips and I’ve been extremely lucky to have seen a huge portion of our country.

- Which leads me to one of my favorite shows ever – Alton Brown’s Feasting on Asphalt. Strange title. Amazing show. Great concept (head out across the country on motorcycles with your buddies, no major highways, no major food chains, see what kinds of great food you can find), great photography, great design.

- Which leads me to… BBQ! – Love it! Aaron and I have been known to spend entire Saturdays driving through small town after small town in search of the perfect BBQ restaurant. Thus far, a couple of our favorites have been Peete Mesquite BBQ in Marble Falls and Luling BBQ in… Luling, TX.

And yes, I will be posting pictures VERY soon!!!

And the Winner is…

the White Family of New Braunfels, TX (whose pictures, I just realized, I don’t think I ever blogged)! They are an amazingly fun and laid back family that I had the privilege of photographing in the spring, and they are the winners of a 16×20 Standout Wall Portrait with the photo of their choice. Congratulations!

The Holidays!

Posted on November 13, 2008

This is the first year we’ve offered press printed holiday cards and I’m so excited! In the past, photo cards have been printed on photo paper and, more often than not, were kinda cheesy. Now there is an awesome alternative! There are several different sizes and paper types available, ranging from $2-4 each, so order yours soon!

Here are some of the designs that you can choose from, and I’m working on putting together some other simpler, modern designs too! The designs below are for 5×5 or 5×7 flat cards, but they can be modified and we can create an inside design too if you are wanting folded cards. Let me know if you’ve got questions!

Things I Love Thursday

Posted on November 13, 2008

Last week, my friend Amanda (the mastermind behind The Mom Crowd) started a tradition on her blog – Things I Love Thursday. And, well… I love that idea! So I thought I’d join in, and I encourage you to do the same. I find that many times I don’t stop to appreciate all the awesome things in my life, big or small.

Here are a few things that I love…

- Iced Tea – sitting down with a glass of tea just relaxes me. My work day never feels quite right if there’s not a glass of tea on my desk. I should probably drink less tea and more water, but it’s just so good!

- Crackers & Cheese – This week I have become a huge fan of those little Laughing Cow cheese wedges with Wheat Thins. Yummy!

Not all of my favorite things are food, really!

- Sunglasses - I love sunglasses. Not even so much for their practical use (although I appreciate that), but as an accessory.

- iTunes/iPod PLAYLISTS – I’ve been putting together tons of playlists lately. I can’t get enough. My favorite playlists are currently Chill, Girls who can SING, Autumn, and Life Lessons. Its like mix cd’s, but better!

- Fonts – What can I say, I am a font junkie! I can spend hours on sites like this one. You mean I can download all the fonts I want for free?!

Feel free to share some of your favorites too! I’ll be posting LOTS of pics very soon from the awesome Holiday Portrait Event last Saturday! Thanks to all who participated and made it an incredible success!

God bless,
Breanna
