Small Victories – The Desktop

Posted on October 30, 2008

I had become the person I swore I would never be. The person who used their computer desktop to drop every file and program they ever used. The desktop had become a cluttered mess of folders and icons atop one huge, gigantic photograph. My husband would make fun of me (not out loud so much, but I could tell he was laughing at me on the inside!), but I told myself it was practical. Easy. Useful. But even I was starting to feel a little panicky. Ha!

So today, I did it. A desktop remodel. It should not be such a big deal, but I feel like I should be on some HGTV overhaul, clean sweep type of show. I should have taken before and after pictures so you could fully appreciate the difference. I feel like I have accomplished something great. Ha! I’m a dork, I know.

Now if I could just do the same for my actual desk top.

Lindzy – Senior Portraits

Posted on October 28, 2008

Saturday, I had the awesome opportunity to hang out with Lindzy for a couple hours as she and I drove around looking for cool places to take her senior portraits. She is so sweet and super photogenic, and we had an awesome time!

Reagan – Newborn Portraits

Posted on October 24, 2008

Newborns are awesome. They eat and sleep and that’s about it. When I went to Jason & Natalie’s house last week to get some portraits of 3-week old Reagan, she slept the entire shoot. We’d move her around, poke her, and do all sorts of funny things and she just slept on. It was amazing! She’s just the sweetest baby ever. (Not that I’m biased or anything because she’s my niece.) :)

The Gin Family

Posted on October 21, 2008

A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to photograph the beautiful Gin family. They were so much fun and their kids are painfully adorable :) We spent the morning walking (or running at times keeping up with the kids!) around the Japanese Tea Gardens and it was beautiful!

I’m not going to divulge all of the info yet, but I wanted to give you a heads up that I am about to offer a limited number of mini portrait sessions just in time for the holidays.  If you’ve been wanting portraits of your family or you kids and haven’t quite had the time or the money to invest in a full session, this is your chance.  I will be announcing the date(s) next week.  Those on my (e-)mailing list will be notified first, and then I will post to the blog (so if you’re not on my list, or if you’re not sure, sign up!) There are so many things that you can do with photos (especially these days), and I just love seeing what things clients do with their portraits! Kelly will be receiving a $25 Powerhouse Studios credit for sharing her wonderful creation! I want to invite the rest of you to send photos of how you used or displayed your Powerhouse Studios portraits, and you will also receive a $25 credit if we publish your submission. Morgan – Portraits

Posted on October 2, 2008

Friday, I met our friends Barb & JD, along with their precious daughter, Morgan, for some relaxed portraits out in Bracken. Morgan just recently turned one (where did the time go?!), and she is so cute. Look at those big brown eyes! I had a great time! Here are a few previews from their session…

Towards the end of the session, we happened to be shooting outside Cradle Couture, and they brought out this hat for her to try on. Morgan wasn’t really sure what to think about that, but she tolerated it… for a minute.
