The Witt Family

Posted on August 26, 2008

We had a lot of fun the other day taking pictures of the Witt’s little girl. She just turned one and is SO adorable! I love babies at this age!! She was so laid back and didn’t fuss once.

Off to the park for some fun!

I'm Back!

Posted on August 26, 2008

Just wanted to let everyone know that I’m back and I’m working on getting caught up with your e-mails and editing pictures! Vacation was amazingly fun and laid back, but I’m actually excited to get back to “work” (if you can call it that!).

More info to come, but summer is over and it’s almost time to start thinking about Christmas! We’ve got some AMAZING holiday cards that we are about to start offering, in addition to Christmas gifts and much more. Start thinking about your portrait sessions now!

Vacation

Posted on August 21, 2008

We’re on our annual summer trip to Iowa to visit family. We went a different route this time to mix things up a little bit and see some different sights along the way. To kick things off we spent the weekend in Houston. Highlights were dinner at Maggiano’s, an Astros game and Craig Biggio’s retirement ceremony. After Houston, we took a couple days and drove through Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri before finally arriving in Iowa. One of our big highlights was stopping at the BBQ Shop in Memphis to eat some amazing BBQ. :) We’re having a great time with our family here in Iowa. There’s been golf, shopping, lots of fun and laughter, and the most beautiful, relaxing canoe trip yesterday. Here are pics of some of the highlights so far. (These were taken with my little point and shoot. I didn’t bring the “big” camera along this time.)

Thanks to all of my clients for your patience while we’re getting some much needed R&R. I’ll be getting back to you next Monday and Tuesday!

My 4 year old took this picture! Maybe she’ll be a third generation photographer…

I love southern Louisiana. It’s so beautiful! Unfortunately, you can’t stop to take pictures on the bridge, so I had to take pictures from the car at 70 mph.

This photo was taken by my dad…

This is the way to go! :)

Vacation is almost here!

Posted on August 14, 2008

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I’ve only got two more days in the office before I’m off for vacation! If you have ordered recently, I should be getting in touch with you today (if I haven’t already) to make arrangements for you to get your orders. If you have any questions or have anything you need taken care of, just get in touch with me by Friday and I’ll do my best to get it taken care of before I leave. I’ve got another shoot I’d like to try and post before I leave too, so hold me to it! :)

Thanks,
Breanna

Abby & Carson – Portraits

Posted on August 10, 2008

I finally got my kids to sit down for a few minutes (I mean, a FEW) to shoot some relaxed portraits! I’m so excited! My sister-in-law pointed out to me that these are probably the first (semi-posed, in front of a backdrop, not of chasing them around at the park) portraits I’ve taken of them since they were babies. The candid, follow them around type pictures are the kind I usually end up loving the most, but it makes me feel good that I’ve finally been able to conquer the challenge of taking a more formal (I use that term VERY loosely) portrait of my children :) I know, I’m a dork, but taking pictures of your own kids is a challenge! Anyway, here they are!

Say CHEEEEESE!

CHEEEEESE!

CHEEEEESE!

Well, I HAD to include a picture with Carson’s trademark face!

What I Do…

“Work is the creation of value in God’s world.” (Nancy Ortberg)

I was listening to the radio the other day when I heard this quote and it really struck me. So many people struggle with work – with whether they are working at the right thing or for the right reasons or feeling bored with it. Upon hearing this definition of work, it cleared so much up for me and it forced me to ask myself, does my work create value in God’s world?

I feel so fortunate to have a job that I absolutely love and that doesn’t feel like work at all. Beyond that, I am so lucky to have a job that I believe really does matter. I get to capture once in a lifetime moments and memories, so that people can re-live precious memories and pass those memories and stories on to generations to come!

I just want to say thank you to all of you who have trusted me with your stories, and who have let me be there for those special moments. I love that my work is not really work at all, and it’s all because of you!

God bless,
Breanna

David & Jackie – Engagement

Posted on August 8, 2008

I had the privilege of actually being there when David proposed to Jackie last summer. He does video (and is amazingly good at it, by the way) and he always comes along to our youth summer camp every year to put together the camp video for us. One morning at camp, we all got together to see the previous days video, it gets to the end and David turns the camera on himself, starts talking about how great Jackie is and then asks her to turn around and face the back of the room where he is on his knee with a ring and asks her to marry him. It was great! David & Jackie dated through high school and are now nearing the end of college, and they’re wonderful.

I am honored to be able to shoot their engagement portraits and, next summer, their wedding. We had a great time Wednesday visiting a couple of their “spots”. One being a duck pond where they like to go sit now and again, and then we visited their alma mater, North East School of the Arts, where they met and fell in love. Congratulations!

Deena & Paul – Wedding

Posted on August 5, 2008

I drove to Houston last weekend for Deena and Paul’s wedding and it was so sweet. From the time I got there, there was just this anticipation of the sweetest kind. This was the day they had been waiting for. It’s always emotional when the bride comes down the aisle, but for some reason, when those doors opened in the back of the church, I was just overcome (and Paul was too!).

Deena and Paul, I am so excited for you guys! I know that you will love being married. The way that you two seem to really cherish each other is inspiring.

I was only half joking when I told Deena that I might have more pictures of her niece than of her. :)

I love watching the parents during the ceremony.
